OrderOut AI Phone Ordering

AI answers your phone. OrderOut puts the order in your POS.

Bring an AI phone-ordering agent — AI Bunny, CaterAI, or your own — and OrderOut routes every captured order straight into your Clover, Square, Pecan, or other POS as a real ticket. Same menu, same dashboard as your delivery and online orders.

Works with AI AI Bunny CA CaterAI or your own AI phone agent via the OrderOut API
How it works

From the call to a ticket in your POS.

  1. 01

    Pick your AI phone agent

Use an OrderOut partner — AI Bunny or CaterAI — or connect the AI phone-ordering vendor you already run.

  2. 02

Connect your POS & OrderOut menu

Link Clover, Square, Pecan, or another supported POS. The agent answers from your OrderOut menu.

  3. 03

The agent answers & captures the order

Your AI phone agent takes the call and builds the order from your live menu, hours, and availability.

  4. 04

OrderOut drops it into your POS

The captured order posts to your POS as a real ticket — the same queue as your delivery and online orders.

Why it's different

OrderOut is the rail, not the bot.

The voice agent answers; OrderOut gets the order into the POS you already run — and works with whichever AI you choose.

POS-native, not a hand-off

Orders post as real tickets in Clover, Square, Pecan, and more — not an SMS link or a separate printer. The order lands on the line.

Bring your own AI

Use AI Bunny, CaterAI, or connect your existing voice agent via the OrderOut API. No lock-in to one bot.

Works with the POS others ignore

Voice vendors are often Square- or Toast-only. OrderOut routes into Clover, Pecan, Truffle, Basil, Paradise, Muncho, EkiKart, and more.

One menu, every channel

The phone channel uses the same OrderOut menu as your delivery and online orders, so items, prices, and modifiers match.

One queue, one dashboard

Phone orders reconcile alongside Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, and direct online orders — no new silo.

Swap AI without re-plumbing

Because OrderOut owns the POS connection, you can add or change voice providers without touching your POS integration.

What your AI phone agent does

A receptionist for the phone, built for restaurants.

Voice is handled by your chosen agent (AI Bunny, CaterAI, or your own). OrderOut routes the captured order into your POS.

Answers every call

Your AI phone agent picks up instantly — during the rush, after hours, and when staff are slammed.

Takes pickup & delivery orders

Item by item, with modifiers and special requests, built from your live menu.

Answers common questions

Hours, location, and what is on the menu — the routine questions that tie up the phone.

Handles calls in parallel

Multiple callers at once, so a busy phone never sends customers to a competitor.

Recognizes & upsells

Provider features like returning-guest recognition and upsell (e.g. AI Bunny) — and the order still lands in your POS.

Hands off when it should

For anything outside its scope, the call can route to your staff so a person picks up.

Already have an AI phone agent?

Connect it as a channel.

An existing AI phone-ordering service can connect to OrderOut as a channel and push its orders into the POS systems we integrate with — Clover, Square, Pecan, and more — using the OrderOut API. You keep your voice agent; OrderOut handles the POS routing.

FAQ

AI phone ordering FAQs

What is AI phone ordering for restaurants?
AI phone ordering is an AI receptionist that answers your restaurant’s inbound calls, takes the customer’s order by voice, and routes it into your POS. It handles the phone the way online ordering handles the web — so a ringing phone never turns into a lost order.
Which POS systems do phone orders route into?
Orders taken on the phone route into your POS as standard tickets — Clover, Square, Pecan, and any other compatible POS OrderOut supports — in the same queue as your Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub orders. Toast is coming soon, and partners can integrate via the OrderOut API.
Can the AI answer more than one call at a time?
Yes. Multiple inbound calls can be answered at once, so a busy phone during the rush does not send customers to voicemail or a busy signal.
How does the AI know my menu and prices?
AI phone ordering answers from your OrderOut menu — one menu you can import from DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Clover, Square, and more. Because every channel and your POS read the same OrderOut menu, the AI quotes current items, prices, and availability, and stays in sync whenever you make a change.
How is this different from a human phone answering service?
A traditional answering service takes a message or a manual order that someone re-keys later. AI phone ordering takes the order directly into your POS, answers from your live menu, can handle several calls at once, and works outside staffed hours — with the order on the ticket, not on a notepad.
Do I need a new phone number or new hardware?
No. You keep your existing restaurant phone number and forward it to OrderOut’s AI receptionist — there is no new hardware to install.
What happens if the AI cannot handle a call?
For anything outside its scope, the call can be routed to your staff so a person picks up — the AI handles the routine ordering and questions, and hands off when it should.
Whose AI answers the phone — does OrderOut provide the voice agent?
OrderOut is the routing layer. The voice agent is provided by an AI phone-ordering partner — today AI Bunny and CaterAI — and OrderOut connects it as a channel and pushes the captured orders into your POS. You can also bring your own AI phone-ordering vendor.
I already have an AI phone-ordering vendor. Can it push orders into my POS through OrderOut?
Yes. An existing AI phone-ordering service can connect to OrderOut as a channel and push its orders into the POS systems we integrate with — Clover, Square, Pecan, and more — using the OrderOut API. You keep your voice agent; OrderOut handles the POS routing.
What is the difference between AI Mode and AI Phone Ordering?
AI Phone Ordering faces your customers — it answers inbound calls and takes orders into your POS. AI Mode faces you — it is an assistant you use to manage the restaurant in plain English (86 items, change hours, pause channels, edit menus), drafting changes for your approval. Different jobs, same OrderOut foundation.
